2007 – 2008 MEAD THEATRE LAB PROGRAM SEASON
Solas Nua: Trad
January 24 – February 17, 2008
Written by Mark Doherty
Directed by Linda Murray
A one-armed 100 year-old man sets off on an epic journey across the Irish wilderness with
his feisty one-legged father in search of the son he has never met. From this absurd opening
premise, Trad takes the audience on a hilarious voyage into the importance of roots and
identity with a particularly wry look at what it means to be Irish. Trad proves that in the
end, history is only what we want it to be.

a solemn call and fervent prayer for non-violence and non-retaliation.

Marie-Therese immigrated to the United States carrying little recollection of
whom she was and why she left. With her silent mother as the only link to her
past, Marie-Therese realizes that she must return to her native Haiti to
understand her true identity. The sights and sounds of Haiti’s troubled past
are intimately captured in this play of culture and identity.
