Using transfer pulp printing, screen printing and wax resist techniques on handmade paper, Georgia Deal explores personal narratives. The imagery Deal uses — airplanes, luggage and nature, etc. — are symbols which once embodied romantic connotations but now suggest fear and anxiety in light of current geopolitical and environmental events. The quirky works, compiled on handmade paper, exploit the properties inherent in their construction and examine themes of escape, home, shelter, fear and isolation.
